Meteor Crater (diameter: 1,200 m) is a meteorite impact crater approximately 60 km east of Flagstaff and 29 km west of Winslow in the northern Arizona desert of the United States. The site was formerly known as the Canyon Diablo Crater which proclaims it to be “best preserved meteorite crater on Earth”. The Crater was created by a massive collision, erupted with the force of a 20 megaton bomb and sprayed molten rock for miles around the crater.

Meteorite
The Holsinger Meteorite (639 kilograms – 0.9m width) is the largest discovered fragment of the 45 meter meteor that created Meteor Crater.
